Cheeky Deer

An Eccentric Anomaly: Ed Davies's Blog

The deer here are getting just a bit too bold. A bunch of them were in the field diagonally across from the house this evening after dinner so I decided to see what I could do to both photograph them and scare them off a bit.

In the first field they were in they watched me for a while then ran off when I got the camera out. Uncropped:

They only went into the next field along so I wandered down to the boundary between the two. They were watching me all the way but seemed to feel reasonably secure with a ditch and small rise in between:

Taking that picture got them running, though:

Okay, that's a crop of a picture taken at maximum optical zoom. Still, it's only a poxy little pocket camera—they weren't that far away. So, explain to me again, how's shooting these animals sport?

Also, for cloudy evenings I need a camera with bigger pixels. And a silly hat.
